This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Italy.
• Take ownership of key features from conception to release, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Oversee, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Review pull requests and provide valuable feedback.
• Assist engineers by resolving blockers and investigating technical challenges.
• Identify and standardize reusable solutions within the team.
• Ensure shared components are tested, clear, and well-organized.
• Drive improvements to team processes.
• Minimize the manual intervention needed for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
• Increase automated verification and shift testing to earlier stages in the development cycle.
• Facilitate planning sessions and prioritize tasks that require decision-making.
• Establish review requirements and approval processes.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, take charge of feature releases, and provide nightly builds for Quality Assurance.
• Mentor early-career engineers by offering meaningful work and learning experiences.
• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, including leading a team or owning a significant surface while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other extended background processes.
• A solid understanding of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including awareness of what cannot be covered.
• An example of an initiative you introduced that remained effective after your involvement, along with an honest assessment of the effort involved.
• Comfort with the challenging aspect of the role: encouraging changes in work habits and managing the resulting friction.
• An understanding of which changes necessitate extensive review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• A proven history of developing tools and features that were genuinely utilized by the team, not just those that enhanced your own efficiency.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, rather than just your personal approach.
• An intuitive grasp of product design, user empathy, and a commitment to advancing Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• A self-motivated approach to enhancing the app and codebase beyond the outlined requirements.
• Strong communication abilities.
• Successful completion of multiple technical interviews, along with an assessment based on a real codebase.
