This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to release in collaboration with the design team.
• Manage, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Review pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist engineers in overcoming challenging problems.
• Standardize successful implementations for team utilization.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Lead improvements to team processes.
• Minimize the manual intervention needed for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
• Move verification earlier in the process through automated checks.
• Conduct planning focused on outstanding decisions.
• Establish review criteria and ownership for approvals.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams, addressing team constraints promptly.
• Manage critical issues, take charge of feature releases, and supply nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers with impactful work and learning opportunities.
• Complete multiple technical interviews and a real-codebase assessment during the recruitment process.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership of a team or ownership of a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations.
• Proven experience in establishing enduring team practices and articulating the associated trade-offs.
• Comfort in prompting changes in workflow and managing any resulting friction.
• Ability to discern which changes require extensive review and which do not, based on system behavior.
• A history of developing solutions that the team actively utilized.
• Capability to explain how the team collaborates with AI agents.
• Strong product design intuition, user empathy, and a passion for enhancing Android UI/UX beyond specifications.
• Self-motivation to enhance the app and codebase.
• Exceptional communication skills.
