This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to release in collaboration with the design team.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback for educational purposes.
• Assist engineers in overcoming technical challenges by investigating impediments.
• Recognize reusable solutions within the team and streamline duplicate implementations.
• Ensure shared components are tested, organized, maintained, and consolidated.
• Drive improvements in team processes.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention in ensuring accurate releases.
• Resolve recurring issues by modifying foundational systems.
• Promote early verification by expanding automated checks.
• Facilitate planning sessions focused on unresolved decisions.
• Establish suitable review levels and necessary approvals.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering, highlighting team constraints early on.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers by providing meaningful work and dedicated learning time.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including experience leading a team or owning a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Background in shipping and maintaining background audio or other types of long-running background tasks.
• Understanding of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including the limitations of what can be tested.
• An initiative you implemented within a team that persisted after your involvement, along with a candid account of the resources it took to achieve.
• Comfort in encouraging others to alter their work habits and managing the resulting friction.
• Insight into which changes require extensive review and which do not, supported by an understanding of the system's functionality.
• Proven history of developing solutions that are utilized by the rest of your team.
• Capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents.
• Intuition for product design, empathy for users, and a commitment to advancing Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• Self-motivation to enhance the app and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Excellent communication abilities.
• Portfolio and LinkedIn profiles are requested with the application.
• Experience with open-source Android projects, iOS, Web, or NodeJS is advantageous but not mandatory.
