This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Take ownership of significant Android features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team.
• Manage, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Conduct reviews of pull requests and offer constructive feedback for development.
• Remove obstacles for engineers and address technical challenges.
• Recognize and standardize reusable solutions for the team.
• Ensure that shared components are well-tested, clear, and consolidated.
• Lead initiatives to improve team processes and workflows.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention to ensure correct releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying foundational systems.
• Broaden automated verification efforts and shift testing to earlier phases.
• Facilitate planning sessions focused on unresolved decisions.
• Define requirements for reviews and establish ownership for approvals.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA testing.
• Mentor early-career engineers by assigning meaningful tasks and learning opportunities.
• Conduct technical interviews and assessments within a real codebase during the recruitment process.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership roles or significant project ownership while remaining actively engaged.
• Proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit testing.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background tasks.
• A solid understanding of the significance of testing, including how to approach writing tests and recognizing limitations.
• An example of an initiative you implemented within a team that persisted after your involvement ceased, along with an honest reflection on the effort required to achieve this.
• Comfort in requesting changes in team workflows and handling the resulting friction.
• An informed perspective on which changes require extensive review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• A proven history of creating solutions that your team actively utilized.
• The capability to explain how your team collaborates with AI agents.
• An intuitive sense for product design, user empathy, and a commitment to advancing Android UI/UX beyond the basic specifications.
• A self-motivated approach to enhancing the application and codebase beyond established requirements.
