This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Take ownership of significant Android core product features from conception to release, collaborating closely with the Design team.
• Be responsible for maintaining and enhancing reliability metrics for essential features.
• Write code, review pull requests, and offer constructive feedback.
• Assist engineers by identifying and resolving obstacles.
• Recognize reusable solutions within the team and eliminate redundant implementations.
• Ensure shared components are tested, clear, and reusable.
• Initiate changes to team processes as necessary.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention to ensure accurate releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying the foundational setup.
• Promote early verification by broadening automated checks prior to QA.
• Conduct planning sessions focused on tasks that require decision-making.
• Ascertain the appropriate review levels and required approvals.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams, communicating team constraints proactively.
• Manage critical issues, take ownership of feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers by providing them with meaningful tasks and learning opportunities.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leading a team or managing a major surface while maintaining hands-on involvement.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit testing.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running processes.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and the approach to writing them, including limitations.
• Proven experience implementing a change that was successfully adopted by a team.
• Comfortable in requesting changes in work methods and managing any resulting friction.
• Capable of determining which changes require extensive review and which do not, based on system behavior.
• History of building solutions that the rest of the team utilizes.
• Ability to articulate how the team collaborates with AI agents.
• Strong product design intuition, user empathy, and a desire to elevate Android UI/UX beyond set specifications.
• Self-motivated to enhance the application and codebase beyond the given specifications.
• Exceptional communication skills.

• Bonus: Experience in building, maintaining, or contributing to open source Android projects.
