This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Take ownership of significant Android features from conception to release, collaborating with the design team.
• Maintain and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Write code, review pull requests, and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist engineers by resolving technical challenges.
• Standardize successful implementations for team-wide application.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Drive improvements to team processes and working methodologies.
• Minimize the manual intervention required for successful releases.
• Address recurring issues by enhancing underlying systems.
• Shift verification left through automated checks.
• Manage planning and prioritize tasks that require decision-making.
• Define review requirements and sign-off responsibilities.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly QA builds.
• Mentor early-career engineers through learning-oriented tasks and development time.
• Minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, including leading a team or owning a significant feature while remaining hands-on.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• A solid understanding of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations.
• An example of a contribution you made to a team that continued after your direct involvement, along with an honest assessment of the effort required to achieve that.
• Some experience in encouraging team members to adapt their work habits and managing any resulting friction.
• Insight into which changes require extensive review and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
• A proven history of creating solutions that your team actively utilized.
• Ability to explain how your team collaborates with AI agents.
• Strong product design intuition, user empathy, and a passion for advancing Android UI/UX beyond established specifications.
• Self-motivation to enhance the app and codebase beyond initial requirements.
• Excellent communication abilities.
• Submission of a portfolio and LinkedIn links with the application.
• Participation in several technical interviews along with an assessment on a real codebase.
• Experience with open-source Android projects, iOS, Web, or NodeJS is a plus.
