This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Take full ownership of significant features alongside the design team, from initial decision-making to final release.
• Oversee, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Review pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist engineers in overcoming obstacles by investigating stalled projects.
• Identify reusable solutions within the team and promote their adoption.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Drive improvements in team processes.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention for accurate releases.
• Address recurring issues by modifying the underlying setup.
• Broaden automated verification so that nightly builds are delivered to QA as confirmations.
• Conduct planning sessions focused on work that requires decision-making.
• Define the depth of reviews and necessary sign-offs.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams, communicating team constraints early on.
• Manage critical issues, take ownership of feature releases, and provide nightly builds to QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers with meaningful tasks and dedicated learning time.
• Write and review code while actively taking ownership of features.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including a leadership role within a team or ownership of a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Proven experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background processes.
• A solid understanding of the importance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations on coverage.
• An example of something you introduced to a team that persisted after your involvement ceased, along with an honest assessment of the costs incurred to achieve it.
• Comfort with encouraging changes in people's work habits and managing the resulting friction.
• An informed perspective on which changes require extensive review and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
• A track record of creating solutions that are actively utilized by the rest of your team.
• Capacity to articulate how your team interacts with AI agents.
• Intuition for product design, empathy for users, and a commitment to enhancing Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• A self-motivated drive to improve the app and codebase beyond what is outlined in the specifications.
• Outstanding communication skills.
