This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Take ownership of significant Android features from inception to release in collaboration with the design team.
• Manage, maintain, and enhance the reliability metrics for essential features.
• Conduct pull request reviews and offer constructive feedback.
• Assist engineers by resolving technical challenges.
• Standardize reusable solutions within the team and eliminate redundant implementations.
• Ensure the shared codebase is well-tested, clear, and reusable.
• Enhance team processes and working methodologies.
• Decrease the manual efforts needed for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying the foundational setup.
• Increase automated verification and prioritize testing earlier in the development cycle.
• Lead planning sessions focused on unresolved decisions.
• Establish review requirements and sign-off procedures.
• Engage in discussions across Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers by offering learning opportunities.
• Conduct technical interviews and evaluate candidates against a real-codebase during the hiring process.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership of a team or ownership of a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Proven experience in shipping and sustaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including understanding limitations.
• An instance of a contribution to a team that became a lasting practice after your involvement, along with an honest reflection on the efforts required to achieve it.
• Comfort in encouraging others to modify their work approaches and managing the ensuing friction.
• Insight into which changes necessitate thorough review and which do not, based on system behavior.
• A history of creating solutions that the broader team utilized.
• Ability to articulate how the team collaborates with AI agents.
• An intuitive sense for product design, user empathy, and a commitment to advancing Android UI/UX beyond mere specifications.
