This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
β’ Take ownership of significant features from inception to release, collaborating closely with the design team.
β’ Oversee, enhance, and uphold reliability metrics for essential features.
β’ Review pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
β’ Resolve technical obstacles to assist team members effectively.
β’ Recognize and standardize reusable solutions within the team.
β’ Manage shared components through thorough testing, documentation, and consolidation efforts.
β’ Promote enhancements to team processes.
β’ Minimize the need for manual intervention to ensure accurate releases.
β’ Tackle recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
β’ Broaden automated verification and advance testing earlier in the development cycle.
β’ Conduct planning sessions to prioritize work that necessitates decision-making.
β’ Establish review criteria and sign-off protocols.
β’ Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering, representing team constraints.
β’ Manage critical incidents, take ownership of feature releases, and provide nightly builds for Quality Assurance.
β’ Mentor early-career engineers by offering meaningful tasks and learning opportunities.
β’ A minimum of 5 years in software engineering, with experience leading a team or managing a significant surface while remaining hands-on.
β’ Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
β’ Experience in shipping and maintaining applications that utilize background audio or other long-running background processes.
β’ A solid understanding of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including aspects that cannot be covered.
β’ An example of an initiative you introduced to your team that sustained after your involvement, along with a candid account of the challenges faced to achieve that.
β’ Comfort in addressing the less popular aspects of the role, such as encouraging changes in work habits and managing the resultant friction.
β’ Insight into which changes require extensive review and which do not, based on system functionality.
β’ A proven history of developing solutions that are actively utilized by your team, rather than solely those that enhance your own productivity.
β’ The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, beyond your individual contributions.
β’ An intuition for product design, user empathy, and a commitment to advancing Android UI/UX beyond the specifications provided.
β’ A proactive approach to enhancing the application and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
β’ Exceptional communication abilities.
