This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hungary.
• Take full ownership of major features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, enhance, and ensure the reliability metrics for essential features.
• Review pull requests and offer constructive feedback on development.
• Assist team members in overcoming technical challenges.
• Recognize reusable solutions and implement them across the team.
• Sustain shared components by means of testing, documentation, and consolidation efforts.
• Initiate modifications to team processes as necessary.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention during release processes.
• Tackle recurring issues by refining foundational systems.
• Enhance automated verification and shift testing earlier within the development lifecycle.
• Conduct planning sessions focused on unresolved decisions.
• Establish review criteria and sign-off protocols.
• Engage in discussions across Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers with valuable projects and dedicated learning time.
• Write, review, and actively manage production code.
• A minimum of 5 years in software engineering, including experience leading a team or overseeing a significant component while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Proven experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations.
• An example of an initiative you introduced that persisted after your involvement, along with an honest assessment of the costs incurred to achieve this.
• Comfort with the less popular aspects of the role: encouraging changes in work habits and managing the resulting friction.
• Insight into which changes warrant extensive review and which do not, supported by an understanding of system functionality.
• A history of creating tools and features that your team actively utilized, rather than solely those that increased your efficiency.
• The capacity to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, not just your individual practices.
• An intuitive sense of product design, user empathy, and a determination to elevate Android UI/UX beyond basic specifications.
• A proactive approach to enhancing the application and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Exceptional communication abilities.
• Successful completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment involving a real codebase.
