This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hawaii.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Conduct reviews of pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
• Assist engineers in overcoming challenges by directly investigating complex issues.
• Streamline duplicated implementations into cohesive team standards.
• Ensure shared components are well-tested, clear, and reusable.
• Lead initiatives to enhance team processes.
• Minimize manual interventions necessary for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying the foundational setup.
• Broaden automated verification efforts and promote earlier testing within the development cycle.
• Organize planning sessions and prioritize tasks that necessitate decision-making.
• Define review criteria and sign-off duties.
• Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Address critical challenges, manage feature releases, and provide nightly builds for Quality Assurance.
• Mentor and support the growth of early-career engineers.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, with experience leading a team or managing a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit testing.
• Proven experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of testing and strategies for writing tests, including limitations.
• An example of an initiative you introduced to a team that persisted after your involvement ended, along with an honest evaluation of the effort required to implement it.
• Comfort with the less popular aspects of the role: encouraging colleagues to modify their work habits and managing the subsequent friction.
• An informed perspective on which changes necessitate thorough review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• A history of developing solutions that your team actually utilized, rather than solely those that improved your own efficiency.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, beyond just your personal methods.
• An intuitive grasp of product design, user empathy, and the ambition to elevate Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• A self-driven approach to enhancing the application and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Outstanding communication abilities.
• Successful completion of multiple technical interviews along with an assessment on an actual codebase.
