This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Greece.
• Take ownership of key features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback on development.
• Help team members overcome obstacles by investigating stalled tasks.
• Standardize reusable solutions within the team.
• Ensure shared components are tested, clear, and consolidated.
• Lead initiatives to improve team processes.
• Minimize the manual work required for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by enhancing underlying systems.
• Increase automated verification and shift testing earlier in the process.
• Oversee planning and prioritize tasks that necessitate decision-making.
• Define suitable review levels and sign-off protocols.
• Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Manage critical issues, take charge of feature releases, and deliver nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers with meaningful projects and dedicated learning time.
• Write and review code actively while owning features hands-on.
• Minimum of 5 years in software engineering, including experience in leading a team or owning a major project while remaining hands-on.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Proven experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• Understanding of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations in coverage.
• A change you implemented within a team that persisted after your involvement, along with an honest assessment of the resources required to achieve it.
• Some familiarity with the less popular aspects of the role: encouraging colleagues to alter their workflows and managing the resulting friction.
• A perspective on which changes require extensive review and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
• A history of creating solutions that are genuinely utilized by your team, not solely those that enhance your personal efficiency.
• The capacity to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, not just your personal approach.
• Intuition in product design, user empathy, and the ambition to elevate Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• A self-motivated drive to enhance the application and codebase beyond what is outlined in the specifications.
• Strong communication skills.
• Completion of several technical interviews, along with an assessment of a real codebase.
