This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Take ownership of major features from inception to release, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, enhance, and uphold reliability metrics for key functionalities.
• Review pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist team members in overcoming obstacles and resolving technical challenges.
• Recognize and standardize solutions for broader team implementation.
• Maintain shared code through rigorous testing, clarity, and consolidation efforts.
• Implement improvements to team processes.
• Minimize the manual interventions necessary for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying the foundational setup.
• Increase automated verification processes and shift verification earlier in the workflow.
• Facilitate planning sessions and concentrate the team's focus on tasks that require decision-making.
• Establish review requirements and sign-off protocols.
• Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, take ownership of feature releases, and provide nightly builds for Quality Assurance.
• Mentor early-career engineers by providing meaningful tasks and learning opportunities.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including time leading a team or managing a significant feature while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background tasks.
• A strong understanding of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations.
• An example of an initiative you introduced to a team that continued after your involvement, along with an honest assessment of the efforts required to achieve that.
• Comfort in encouraging team members to alter their workflows and managing the resultant friction.
• A perspective on which changes necessitate extensive review and which do not, based on the system's operations.
• Proven history of creating solutions that are actively utilized by your team.
• Ability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents.
• Intuition for product design, user empathy, and a determination to elevate the Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• Self-motivated to enhance the application and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Exceptional communication skills.
