Team Lead, Android Core Product

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch in collaboration with the design team.

• Manage, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.

• Review pull requests and offer constructive feedback to team members.

• Assist engineers by troubleshooting and resolving technical challenges.

• Aggregate successful implementations into shared team resources.

• Ensure the maintenance of well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.

• Drive improvements to team processes.

• Minimize manual intervention needed for accurate releases.

• Tackle recurring issues by modifying the underlying systems.

• Broaden automated verification and prioritize testing earlier in the process.

• Conduct planning sessions centered on unresolved decisions.

• Establish review criteria and sign-off responsibilities.

• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.

• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.

• Foster the development and growth of early-career engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years in software engineering, including experience leading a team or managing a major surface while remaining hands-on.

• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.

• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.

• Understanding the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations.

• Proven experience in implementing processes or practices that endure post-implementation.

• Comfort in requesting changes in workflow and managing resulting challenges.

• Ability to discern which changes require extensive review and which do not.

• Proven history of creating solutions that the team utilizes.

• Capability to articulate how the team collaborates with AI agents.

• Intuition in product design, user empathy, and a passion for enhancing Android UI/UX.

• Self-motivated to advance the app and codebase.

• Strong communication abilities.

• Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on a real codebase.

• Submission of portfolio links and LinkedIn profile with the application.
