This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Take ownership of significant features from conception to release in collaboration with the design team.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Review pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Remove obstacles for engineers and resolve team challenges.
• Identify reusable implementations and set team-standard versions.
• Maintain thoroughly tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Drive improvements in team processes.
• Minimize the manual involvement needed for successful releases.
• Address ongoing issues by modifying the foundational setup.
• Advance automated verification processes and shift verification to earlier stages.
• Conduct planning sessions focused on work that necessitates decision-making.
• Define review prerequisites and required sign-offs.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Assist early-career engineers with opportunities to learn.
• Write and review code while taking hands-on ownership of features.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leading a team or taking ownership of a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background tasks.
• Understanding the significance of tests and the approach to writing them, including elements that cannot be tested.
• Proven experience in implementing a team practice that persisted after the candidate stepped back.
• Comfortable in requesting changes in work habits from others and managing any resulting friction.
• Ability to discern which changes necessitate thorough review and which do not.
• A track record of creating solutions that are utilized by the rest of the team.
• Capability to articulate how the team collaborates with AI agents.
• Intuition in product design, empathy for users, and a desire to enhance Android UI/UX beyond specifications.
• Self-motivation to enhance the app and codebase beyond set specifications.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on a real codebase.
