This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Take ownership of significant Android features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, enhance, and uphold reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist engineers by investigating and resolving technical challenges.
• Standardize successful implementations for use across the team.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Drive changes to team processes.
• Minimize manual intervention required for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by enhancing underlying systems.
• Broaden automated verification and integrate testing earlier in the development lifecycle.
• Conduct planning sessions and prioritize tasks that require decision-making.
• Define review criteria and ownership for approvals.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers with appropriate tasks and learning opportunities.
• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership roles or ownership of a significant component while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-duration background tasks.
• Understanding the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations.
• Proven experience in implementing practices or changes that have been adopted by the team.
• Ability to encourage colleagues to adapt their work methods while managing any resulting challenges.
• Capable of discerning which changes necessitate thorough review and which do not.
• History of creating solutions utilized by the broader team.
• Ability to articulate how the team interacts with AI agents.
• Strong intuition for product design, user empathy, and a desire to enhance Android UI/UX.
• Self-motivation to improve the app and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Successful completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on an actual codebase.
