This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Review pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist team members by resolving stalled tasks.
• Identify reusable implementations and standardize them within the team.
• Maintain shared components to ensure they are well-tested, clear, and consolidated.
• Lead initiatives to improve team processes.
• Minimize the manual intervention needed for successful releases.
• Resolve recurring issues by modifying the underlying infrastructure.
• Shift verification left by broadening automated checks.
• Facilitate planning sessions and direct the team's focus on outstanding decisions.
• Define review criteria and sign-off responsibilities.
• Engage in discussions related to Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for Quality Assurance.
• Mentor early-career engineers through learning-centric tasks and development time.
• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership of a team or ownership of a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-duration background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including aspects that cannot be covered by tests.
• A successful initiative you introduced to a team that persisted after your involvement ended, along with an honest reflection on the effort it took to achieve that.
• Some familiarity with the less popular aspect of the role: encouraging people to alter their work habits and managing the ensuing friction.
• A perspective on which changes warrant in-depth review and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
• A proven history of creating solutions that your team actively utilized, not just those that enhanced your own efficiency.
• The capability to explain how your team interacts with AI agents, not just your personal approach.
• An intuitive understanding of product design, user empathy, and a commitment to elevating Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• A self-motivated approach to enhancing the app and codebase beyond what is defined in the specifications.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Experience with open source Android projects, iOS, Web, or NodeJS is considered a bonus.
