This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.
• Take ownership of significant features from conception to release, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback on development.
• Assist engineers by identifying and resolving obstacles they encounter.
• Discover reusable solutions for the team and streamline duplicate implementations.
• Ensure shared components are well-tested, clear, and reusable.
• Lead initiatives to modify team processes.
• Minimize the manual effort necessary for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by refining the underlying systems.
• Advance verification practices and broaden automated checks prior to QA.
• Conduct planning sessions and prioritize tasks that require decision-making.
• Establish review criteria and approval stages.
• Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers by offering meaningful tasks and learning opportunities.
• Participate in several technical interviews and a real-codebase assessment during the hiring process.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership roles or ownership of significant projects while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Proven experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background tasks.
• Awareness of the significance of tests and approaches to writing them, including areas that may not be covered.
• An example of a change you introduced to a team that persisted after your involvement, along with an honest assessment of the effort required to implement it.
• Some ease with the less popular aspects of the role: encouraging others to alter their workflows and managing the ensuing friction.
• Insight into which changes demand extensive review and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
• A history of creating solutions that your team actively used, rather than solely focusing on personal efficiency.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, not just your personal approach.
• An intuitive grasp of product design, user empathy, and the motivation to elevate Android UI/UX beyond the specified requirements.
• A self-driven approach to enhancing the app and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Excellent communication abilities.
