This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.
• Take full ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback on development.
• Assist engineers in overcoming obstacles by directly investigating issues.
• Determine effective implementations for widespread adoption across the team.
• Maintain shared components through thorough testing, documentation, and consolidation efforts.
• Drive changes in team processes.
• Minimize the manual efforts needed for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
• Enhance automated verification and integrate testing earlier in the development cycle.
• Conduct planning sessions and direct the team toward unresolved decisions.
• Establish review requirements and approval workflows.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and deliver nightly builds for QA.
• Provide support for early-career engineers through learning-focused tasks and development time.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership roles or ownership of significant projects while remaining hands-on.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background operations.
• Comprehension of the importance of testing and strategies for writing tests, including aspects that may not be testable.
• An example of a practice you introduced to a team that remained effective after your involvement ended, along with an honest assessment of the effort required to implement it.
• Some familiarity with the less popular aspects of the role: encouraging changes in work habits and managing the resulting friction.
• Insight into which changes require extensive reviews and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
• A proven history of building solutions that are utilized by your team, not just those that enhance your own efficiency.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, beyond your personal contributions.
• An intuitive grasp of product design, user empathy, and a commitment to advancing Android UI/UX beyond standard specifications.
• Self-motivation to enhance the app and codebase beyond the initial specifications.
• Exceptional communication abilities.
• Completion of multiple technical interviews alongside an assessment on a real codebase.
