This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
• Assist engineers by investigating and resolving obstacles.
• Recognize reusable solutions within the team and merge duplicate implementations.
• Ensure shared components are well-tested, clear, and reusable.
• Implement changes to team processes as necessary.
• Minimize the manual intervention required for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying the foundational setup.
• Advance verification processes by increasing automated checks prior to QA.
• Lead planning sessions focused on tasks requiring decision-making.
• Establish review requirements and determine approval ownership.
• Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Manage critical issues, take charge of feature releases, and provide nightly QA builds.
• Assist early-career engineers by offering valuable learning experiences.
• Write, review, and manage Android product code as a hands-on team leader.
• Minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, with time spent leading a team or owning a significant feature while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other types of long-running background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including understanding what cannot be tested.
• An example of a contribution you made to a team that persisted after you stopped advocating for it, along with an honest assessment of the resources required to achieve it.
• Some familiarity with the less popular aspects of the role: prompting colleagues to alter their workflows and managing the resulting friction.
• An understanding of which changes necessitate extensive review and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
• A history of creating solutions that your team actually utilized, not just those that increased your efficiency.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, in addition to your personal approach.
• An innate sense of product design, user empathy, and the ambition to elevate Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• A self-motivated approach to enhancing the application and codebase beyond what is outlined in the specifications.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Completion of several technical interviews plus an assessment based on a real codebase.
