Team Lead, Android Core Product

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of significant features throughout the entire process, from decision-making to release, collaborating closely with the Design team.

• Manage, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.

• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.

• Assist engineers by removing obstacles and resolving technical challenges.

• Identify reusable solutions and ensure they are standardized across the team.

• Maintain shared components, ensuring they are well-tested, clear, and consolidated.

• Enhance team processes and methodologies.

• Minimize manual intervention required for successful releases.

• Address recurring issues by modifying the underlying systems.

• Shift verification left by increasing automated checks.

• Conduct planning sessions focused on unresolved decisions.

• Establish review criteria and sign-off protocols.

• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.

• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.

• Offer learning opportunities to early-career engineers.

• Actively write, review, and take ownership of code while leading the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership experience or ownership of a significant surface, while remaining hands-on.

• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit testing.

• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.

• Understanding of the significance of testing and strategies for writing tests, including limitations on coverage.

• An example of an initiative you introduced to a team that continued after your involvement, including an honest reflection on the associated costs.

• Comfort in requesting changes in work processes and managing the resulting friction.

• A perspective on which changes necessitate thorough review and which do not, based on the system's functionality.

• Proven track record of developing tools and features that your team actively utilizes.

• Ability to articulate how your team integrates with AI agents.

• Intuition for product design, empathy for users, and a commitment to elevating Android UI/UX beyond specifications.

• Proactive approach to enhancing the application and codebase beyond the given specifications.

• Outstanding communication abilities.

• Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment of a real codebase.
