This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Take ownership of significant features from conception to release, collaborating closely with the Design team.
• Manage, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Review pull requests and offer constructive feedback on development.
• Assist team members by resolving technical challenges.
• Standardize successful implementations for the entire team to utilize.
• Keep shared components well-tested, clear, and consolidated.
• Lead improvements in team processes.
• Minimize manual interventions required for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying the underlying systems.
• Increase automated verification and move testing earlier within the development cycle.
• Facilitate planning sessions focused on work that requires decision-making.
• Establish review criteria and oversee approval responsibilities.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical challenges, oversee feature releases, and supply nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers by providing meaningful learning experiences.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leading a team or managing a major project while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit testing.
• Experience in delivering and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background tasks.
• Awareness of the significance of tests and methodologies for writing them, including limitations.
• Proven experience in establishing a team practice that continued after initial adoption.
• Comfort in encouraging changes in work practices and managing any resulting friction.
• Capability to identify which changes require extensive review and which do not.
• History of developing solutions that the team has utilized.
• Ability to articulate how the team collaborates with AI agents.
• Intuition for product design, user empathy, and a commitment to enhancing Android UI/UX.
• Self-motivation to enhance the app and codebase beyond initial specifications.
• Strong communication skills.
• Submission of a portfolio and LinkedIn links is requested with the application.
