This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to deployment, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and deliver constructive feedback.
• Assist engineers by directly investigating and resolving issues.
• Standardize team solutions and streamline duplicated implementations.
• Ensure shared components are well-tested, clear, and reusable.
• Recognize when the team needs to adjust its workflow.
• Minimize the manual effort required for successful releases.
• Resolve recurring issues by modifying the underlying setup.
• Promote early verification and broaden automated checks.
• Facilitate planning to ensure the team's focus is on tasks requiring decisions.
• Establish appropriate review levels and necessary sign-offs.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering while communicating team constraints proactively.
• Manage critical issues, take charge of feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers by offering learnable tasks and ample learning time.
• Write code, review code, and actively manage features.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on team leadership or owning a significant surface while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background tasks.
• Knowledge of the significance of tests and the methodology for writing them, including understanding limitations.
• A successful initiative you implemented within a team that persisted after your involvement, along with an honest assessment of the costs incurred to achieve it.
• A degree of comfort with the less popular aspects of the role: encouraging colleagues to alter their work methods and managing the resulting friction.
• Insight into which changes necessitate rigorous review and which do not, supported by an understanding of system functionality.
• A proven history of creating solutions that your team actively utilized, rather than solely those that enhanced your own efficiency.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, beyond just your personal practices.
• An intuitive sense of product design, user empathy, and the ambition to elevate Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• A self-driven approach to enhancing the app and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Strong communication abilities.
• Experience in building, maintaining, or contributing to open-source Android projects (bonus).
• Familiarity with iOS, Web, or NodeJS (bonus).
• Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on a real codebase.
