This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to release, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Oversee, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
• Remove obstacles for team members and resolve technical challenges.
• Identify reusable solutions and standardize their implementation across the team.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Lead improvements in team processes and methodologies.
• Minimize manual intervention necessary for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by enhancing foundational systems.
• Shift verification processes earlier by increasing automated checks prior to QA.
• Facilitate planning sessions and guide the team towards decision-making tasks.
• Establish review criteria and ownership for approvals.
• Engage in Product, Design, and Engineering discussions, articulating team limitations.
• Address critical issues, take charge of feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career team members through impactful work and dedicated learning opportunities.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including experience leading a team or managing a significant feature while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Proven experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background processes.
• A solid understanding of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations in coverage.
• An example of an initiative you introduced to a team that persisted after your involvement, along with an honest reflection on the effort required to implement it.
• Some familiarity with the challenging aspects of the role: encouraging colleagues to modify their workflows and navigating the ensuing friction.
• An informed perspective on which changes necessitate thorough review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• A proven history of developing solutions that are utilized by your team, rather than solely those that enhance your own efficiency.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, beyond just your individual contributions.
• Intuitive understanding of product design, user empathy, and the motivation to elevate Android UI/UX beyond the basic specifications.
• A self-motivated approach to improving the app and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Exceptional communication abilities.
• Completion of several technical interviews, along with an assessment on an actual codebase.
