This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Finland.
• Take full ownership of significant features from inception to release, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, enhance, and ensure the reliability metrics of essential features.
• Conduct pull request reviews and offer constructive feedback on development.
• Assist engineers in overcoming obstacles and investigate technical hurdles.
• Identify solutions that can be reused by the team and promote their implementation.
• Maintain well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Lead improvements to team processes.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention to ensure correct releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying the underlying setup.
• Advance verification processes by implementing more extensive automated checks.
• Facilitate planning sessions and focus the team’s attention on tasks that are yet to be decided.
• Establish review criteria and sign-off stages.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams while conveying team constraints.
• Manage critical issues, take ownership of feature releases, and deliver nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers through learning-focused projects and development time.
• Write and review code, actively participating in feature ownership.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership roles or ownership of major projects while remaining hands-on.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background processes.
• Knowledge of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations on what can be tested.
• An example of a change you implemented that persisted after your departure, along with an honest assessment of the effort involved.
• Comfort in requesting changes in colleagues' work practices and accepting the ensuing challenges.
• Insight into which modifications require in-depth review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• Proven ability to build solutions that are genuinely utilized by the team.
• Capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents.
• Strong product design intuition, user empathy, and a desire to enhance Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• Self-motivated to enhance the application and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Exceptional communication skills.
