This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Denmark.
• Take ownership of major features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
• Assist engineers by identifying and resolving obstacles.
• Recognize reusable team solutions and promote their implementation.
• Ensure shared components are tested, well-defined, and consolidated.
• Propel enhancements to team processes.
• Minimize the manual intervention necessary for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying the foundational setup.
• Shift verification earlier in the process by increasing automated checks.
• Conduct planning sessions focused on work that requires decision-making.
• Define review criteria and sign-off procedures.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams, effectively communicating team limitations.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and supply nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers by providing them with meaningful tasks and learning opportunities.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including a leadership role or significant ownership of a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Proven experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-duration background tasks.
• A solid understanding of the importance of testing and strategies for writing tests, including limitations.
• An example of an initiative you implemented within a team that persisted after your involvement ended, along with an honest assessment of the costs incurred to achieve that.
• Comfort with the less popular aspects of the role: persuading colleagues to alter their work habits and managing the ensuing friction.
• Insight into which changes necessitate thorough review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• A history of developing solutions that are genuinely utilized by your team, rather than solely those that enhance your own efficiency.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, beyond your personal approach.
• An intuitive grasp of product design, user empathy, and the ambition to advance Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• A proactive attitude towards enhancing the app and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Exceptional communication abilities.
• Experience in building, maintaining, or contributing to open-source Android projects (Bonus).
• Familiarity with iOS, Web, or NodeJS (Bonus).
• Participation in several technical interviews, along with an evaluation based on a real codebase.
