Team Lead, Android Core Product

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Czechia.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the Design team.

• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.

• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback.

• Assist engineers in overcoming technical challenges.

• Standardize successful implementations for use across the team.

• Maintain clear, tested, and consolidated shared components.

• Drive enhancements to team processes.

• Minimize the manual intervention necessary for accurate releases.

• Resolve recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.

• Increase automated verification and advance testing earlier in the development cycle.

• Lead planning sessions and prioritize tasks that require decision-making.

• Establish appropriate review levels and sign-off criteria.

• Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering.

• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for Quality Assurance.

• Offer support and learning opportunities for early-career engineers.

• Participate in technical interviews and evaluate real codebases.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, including experience leading a team or owning a significant feature while remaining hands-on.

• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.

• Proven experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.

• Understanding the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations.

• Experience implementing improvements that endure beyond initial implementation.

• Comfort in requesting changes to established workflows and managing any resulting friction.

• Ability to discern which changes necessitate thorough review and which do not.

• Proven history of creating solutions utilized by the broader team.

• Ability to explain how the team collaborates with AI agents.

• Product design intuition and empathy for users.

• Exceptional communication skills.

• Experience building, maintaining, or contributing to open-source Android projects (bonus).

• Familiarity with iOS, Web, or NodeJS (bonus).
