This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to release, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback on development.
• Assist team members by resolving technical obstacles.
• Standardize reusable solutions within the team.
• Maintain clear, tested, and consolidated shared components.
• Drive enhancements to team processes.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention during correct releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying the underlying systems.
• Expand automated verification and promote early testing in the development cycle.
• Lead planning sessions focused on tasks that require decision-making.
• Establish review requirements and define approval responsibilities.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering while conveying team constraints.
• Manage critical issues, take charge of feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers by offering learning opportunities.
• Write, review, and actively own code for features.
• Participate in multiple technical interviews and assess real codebases during the recruitment process.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership in a team or ownership of a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• A clear understanding of the significance of tests and approaches to writing them, including limitations.
• An example of a contribution that was adopted by the team after you ceased promoting it, along with a candid assessment of the effort required to achieve it.
• Comfort in addressing the more challenging aspects of the role, such as encouraging changes in work habits and managing the resulting friction.
• Insight into which changes necessitate extensive review and which do not, justified by the system's functionality.
• A proven history of building solutions that are utilized by the team, not merely those that enhance personal efficiency.
• The capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, beyond just your individual contributions.
• An intuitive grasp of product design, user empathy, and a commitment to advancing Android UI/UX beyond the initial specifications.
• A self-motivated approach to enhancing the application and codebase beyond what is stated in the specifications.
• Exceptional communication skills.
