This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception through to release, collaborating closely with the design team.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential functionalities.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist engineers by identifying and resolving technical challenges.
• Discover and consolidate solutions for use across the team.
• Ensure shared components are tested, clearly defined, and reusable.
• Spearhead modifications to team processes.
• Minimize the manual effort needed for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by transforming underlying systems.
• Broaden automated verification and advance testing earlier within the development lifecycle.
• Organize planning sessions and prioritize tasks that require decision-making.
• Establish review levels and necessary approvals.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career engineers through impactful work and learning opportunities.
• Write, review, and take hands-on ownership of code and features.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership roles or ownership of significant projects while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-duration background tasks.
• Appreciation for the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including their limitations.
• An example of an initiative you implemented that became a lasting practice within the team, along with a candid reflection on the effort required to achieve it.
• Comfort with prompting colleagues to alter their workflows and manage any resulting friction.
• Insight into which modifications require thorough review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• Proven history of creating tools or features that are actively utilized by your team.
• Ability to articulate your team’s interaction with AI agents.
• Strong product design intuition, user empathy, and a commitment to elevating Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• Motivation to enhance the application and codebase beyond what is outlined in the specifications.
• Exceptional communication abilities.
• Participation in multiple technical interviews and an assessment on an actual codebase.
