This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
⢠Take ownership of major features from conception to release, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
⢠Oversee, maintain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
⢠Review code submissions and offer constructive feedback to team members.
⢠Help team members overcome technical challenges by investigating issues.
⢠Standardize reusable solutions across the team to enhance efficiency.
⢠Ensure the maintenance of well-tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
⢠Lead initiatives to improve team processes.
⢠Minimize the manual intervention needed for successful releases.
⢠Tackle recurring issues by enhancing underlying systems.
⢠Shift verification processes left by broadening automated checks.
⢠Organize planning sessions and prioritize tasks that require decision-making.
⢠Define review criteria and sign-off procedures.
⢠Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
⢠Manage critical issues, take ownership of feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
⢠Mentor early-career engineers through impactful work and learning experiences.
⢠A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership roles or ownership of significant projects while remaining hands-on.
⢠Proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit testing.
⢠Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other lengthy background processes.
⢠Understanding the significance of tests and the methodology for writing them, including limitations of test coverage.
⢠An instance of an initiative you introduced to a team that persisted after your departure, along with a candid account of the effort involved.
⢠Comfort with the less popular aspects of the role: encouraging changes in workflow and managing the resulting friction.
⢠Insight into which changes warrant extensive review and which do not, based on system functionality.
⢠A proven record of building solutions that your team actively utilized, rather than solely those that improved your own efficiency.
⢠Capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, not just your personal approach.
⢠Intuition for product design, a strong sense of user empathy, and the motivation to elevate Android UI/UX beyond standard specifications.
⢠Initiative to enhance the app and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
⢠Exceptional communication skills.
⢠Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on a real codebase.
