This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Take ownership of significant Android features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with Design.
• Manage, enhance, and monitor reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist engineers by resolving technical challenges.
• Discover reusable solutions and promote their integration within the team.
• Ensure shared components are tested, clear, and well-organized.
• Spearhead modifications to team processes and operational methods.
• Minimize manual intervention necessary for accurate releases.
• Enhance core systems to avert recurring issues.
• Advance verification processes by increasing automated checks prior to QA.
• Facilitate planning sessions and focus the team on unresolved matters.
• Establish suitable review depths and necessary approvals.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering, conveying team limitations.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and deliver nightly builds to QA.
• Provide support and learning opportunities for early-career engineers.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership roles or ownership of major projects while remaining hands-on.
• Proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in deploying and maintaining background audio or other long-duration background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and methods for writing them, including limitations.
• A successful contribution to a team that endured after your departure, along with a candid account of the effort involved.
• Comfort in encouraging others to alter their workflows and managing the ensuing challenges.
• Insight into which changes necessitate thorough reviews and which do not, based on system functionality.
• A proven history of building solutions that are actively utilized by the team.
• Capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents.
• An instinct for product design, empathy for users, and a determination to elevate Android UI/UX beyond standard specifications.
• Self-motivation to enhance the application and codebase beyond defined expectations.
• Strong communication abilities.
• Completion of several technical interviews and an evaluation on an actual codebase.
