This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Take full ownership of significant features, collaborating closely with the design team from concept to launch.
β’ Manage, enhance, and uphold reliability metrics for essential features.
β’ Review pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
β’ Assist engineers in overcoming obstacles and investigate ongoing issues.
β’ Standardize reusable solutions for the team and maintain shared components.
β’ Enhance team processes and identify when adjustments to working methods are necessary.
β’ Minimize manual intervention needed for successful releases.
β’ Address recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
β’ Shift verification processes earlier and broaden automated checks.
β’ Facilitate planning and prioritize tasks that require decision-making.
β’ Establish review criteria and approval workflows.
β’ Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
β’ Manage critical problems, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
β’ Mentor early-career engineers by providing learning opportunities.
β’ Write, review, and actively contribute to Android code.
β’ Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership roles or ownership of major features while remaining hands-on.
β’ Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
β’ Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background tasks.
β’ Comprehension of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including aspects that may not be testable.
β’ An example of an initiative you implemented within a team that continued after your involvement ceased, along with an honest assessment of what it took to achieve that.
β’ Some familiarity with the less popular aspects of the role: encouraging changes in work habits and managing the subsequent friction.
β’ An informed perspective on which changes require thorough review and which do not, based on the function of the system.
β’ A proven history of building solutions that your team actively utilized, not just those that enhanced your own efficiency.
β’ The ability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents, beyond just your personal experience.
β’ A sense of product design, user empathy, and the motivation to elevate Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
β’ A self-motivated approach to enhancing the app and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
β’ Strong communication skills.
β’ Completion of several technical interviews, along with an assessment of a real codebase.
