This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Assess pull requests and offer constructive feedback on development.
• Assist the team by identifying and resolving obstacles.
• Standardize shared solutions and eliminate redundant implementations.
• Ensure shared components remain tested, organized, and maintainable.
• Lead initiatives to improve team processes.
• Minimize manual intervention required for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying the foundational setup.
• Expand automated verification processes and advocate for early verification.
• Conduct planning sessions focused on work that requires decision-making.
• Establish suitable review levels and approval requirements.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering, and proactively identify team constraints.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and deliver nightly builds for Quality Assurance.
• Mentor early-career engineers with impactful projects and dedicated learning time.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership roles or ownership of significant projects while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or managing other long-running background tasks.
• Awareness of the significance of tests and the approach to writing them, including limitations.
• A successful initiative you implemented within a team that persisted after your involvement, along with an honest assessment of the effort required.
• Comfort in encouraging changes in work practices and managing the resulting friction.
• An understanding of which changes require extensive review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• A proven history of developing solutions that are actively utilized by your team.
• The capability to explain how your team collaborates with AI agents.
• An instinct for product design, user empathy, and the ambition to enhance Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• A proactive approach to improving the application and codebase beyond the outlined requirements.
• Exceptional communication abilities.
