This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Take ownership of significant features from conception through to release in collaboration with the design team.
• Manage, uphold, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Review pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Assist engineers in overcoming obstacles by investigating stalled tasks.
• Advocate for successful individual implementations to set team standards.
• Ensure the maintenance of tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Initiate updates to team processes as required.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention to ensure correct releases.
• Resolve recurring issues through fundamental setup changes.
• Increase automated verification prior to nightly QA builds.
• Lead planning efforts that focus on work requiring decision-making.
• Establish review requirements and sign-off protocols.
• Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Manage critical issues, take ownership of feature releases, and supply nightly builds for QA.
• Guide early-career engineers through appropriately challenging assignments.
• Write and review code while actively managing features.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership roles or ownership of significant projects while remaining hands-on.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including identifying areas that cannot be tested.
• Proven experience in implementing sustainable team practices.
• Ability to encourage changes in work habits and manage any resultant friction.
• Skill in discerning which changes necessitate thorough reviews and which do not.
• History of creating solutions that are utilized by the broader team.
• Capability to articulate how the team collaborates with AI agents.
• Intuition for product design, user empathy, and Android UI/UX expertise.
• Self-motivation to enhance the application and codebase beyond established specifications.
• Excellent communication abilities.
