This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Belgium.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to deployment, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Review pull requests and offer constructive feedback on development.
• Assist team members by resolving obstacles that hinder progress.
• Standardize reusable solutions within the team.
• Ensure shared components are well-tested, clear, and streamlined.
• Recognize when the team should adapt its workflows.
• Minimize manual intervention needed for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying foundational systems.
• Increase automated verification and shift verification processes earlier in the development cycle.
• Facilitate planning sessions and direct the team's focus on outstanding decisions.
• Establish review criteria and mandatory sign-offs.
• Engage in discussions related to Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor early-career team members by providing learning opportunities.
• Write and review code while maintaining hands-on ownership of features.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership of a team or ownership of a major product while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background processes.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations of coverage.
• A notable contribution you made to a team that persisted after your involvement, along with a candid assessment of the effort required to achieve this.
• Some familiarity with persuading others to alter their workflows and managing the resulting friction.
• A perspective on which changes necessitate thorough review and which do not, based on the functionality of the system.
• A proven history of creating tools or features that are actively utilized by the team.
• Capacity to articulate how your team interacts with AI agents.
• An intuitive sense for product design, empathy for users, and a commitment to advancing Android UI/UX beyond the initial specifications.
• Proactive approach to enhancing the app and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Successful completion of several technical interviews, along with an assessment on an actual codebase.
