This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Austria.
• Take ownership of major features from inception to deployment, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the decision-making and release processes.
• Manage, enhance, and uphold reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Remove obstacles for engineers and explore technical challenges.
• Recognize and standardize solutions for utilization across the team.
• Oversee shared code components, focusing on testing, clarity, and consolidation.
• Propel changes in team processes.
• Minimize manual interventions necessary for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying foundational systems.
• Promote early verification and broaden automated testing.
• Conduct planning sessions focused on unresolved decisions.
• Establish review criteria and define approval responsibilities.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams, highlighting team constraints early.
• Manage critical issues, take charge of feature releases, and deliver nightly builds for Quality Assurance.
• Mentor early-career engineers by providing meaningful work and dedicated learning time.
• Write code, review code, and actively manage features in a hands-on manner.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership experience or ownership of a major surface while remaining hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Proven experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• Thorough understanding of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including areas that cannot be covered.
• Experience in initiating processes or practices that have been adopted post-implementation.
• Comfortable with encouraging changes in workflow and managing any resulting friction.
• Skillful in assessing which changes require extensive review and which do not, based on system behavior.
• Successful history of creating tools or features utilized by the broader team.
• Ability to articulate how the team collaborates with AI agents.
• Strong intuition for product design and user empathy.
• Self-motivated to enhance the application and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
