This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to release, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and deliver constructive feedback.
• Remove obstacles for team members by investigating and resolving technical issues.
• Standardize successful implementations for broader team application.
• Maintain shared components to ensure they are tested, well-documented, and consolidated.
• Recognize when the team should adjust its workflows and lead those modifications.
• Minimize the manual intervention required for successful releases.
• Address recurring issues by modifying the foundational setup.
• Shift verification processes earlier by expanding automated checks.
• Facilitate planning sessions to ensure the team concentrates on decision-making work.
• Establish appropriate review levels and necessary sign-offs.
• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams, communicating team limitations proactively.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for Quality Assurance.
• Mentor early-career engineers through learning-oriented tasks and development opportunities.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership roles or ownership of significant projects while remaining actively involved.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other prolonged background processes.
• Awareness of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations on coverage.
• A successful implementation you introduced to a team that remained effective after your involvement, along with an honest assessment of the effort required to achieve it.
• Comfort in encouraging colleagues to modify their work practices and managing the resulting friction.
• Insight into which changes require extensive review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• A proven history of developing solutions that are actively utilized by your team.
• Ability to articulate how your team interacts with AI agents.
• Strong product design intuition, user empathy, and the ambition to enhance Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• Self-motivated to enhance the application and codebase beyond what is specified.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Bonus: Experience in building, maintaining, or contributing to open-source Android projects.
