This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the principal tax advisor and main point of contact for a select group of Regis families, managing and expanding a client portfolio with balance sheets often exceeding +$100M.
• Develop practical, year-round, and multi-year tax strategies customized to each family's objectives, ownership structures, businesses, trusts, investments, charitable efforts, and succession plans.
• Lead and nurture a dedicated team of tax professionals focused on ultra-high-net-worth clients, overseeing staffing, engagement economics, billing, and service standards.
• Identify planning opportunities and risks related to business transactions, concentrated stock positions, real estate, carried interests, equity compensation, major charitable contributions, residency changes, and cross-border issues.
• Direct tax compliance either personally or through active review and collaboration with external CPA firms or internal tax teams.
• Manage responses to significant federal and state tax notices, examinations, and controversies, coordinating with legal counsel and specialists.
• Collaborate with wealth advisors and teams in estate planning, investments, financial planning, and family office services.
• Organize tax calendars and responsibilities in conjunction with outside CPAs, attorneys, trustees, investment bankers, valuation experts, controllers, and other advisors.
• Assist in prospective client meetings and contribute to the evolution of the tax service model, team, and technology.
• CPA license is mandatory.
• 12–15+ years of progressive tax experience; substantial experience with families possessing $100M+ is essential.
• Profound technical expertise in individual, fiduciary, partnership, corporate, estate, gift, and state and local taxation.
• Experience with advanced tax planning techniques for ultra-high-net-worth families.
• Experience in identifying cross-border tax and reporting challenges and collaborating with international tax experts.
• Experience managing critical tax notices, examinations, and controversy matters, including liaising with tax counsel.
• Experience advising entrepreneurs, business owners, executives, and multi-generational families during liquidity events, business succession, wealth transfer, and significant transactions.
• Ability to analyze complex situations and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing tax professionals.
• Comfort operating within a team-oriented, integrated advisory environment under a regulated RIA structure.
• Unquestionable integrity, confidentiality, sound risk management, and commitment to client interests.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.
• Availability Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with occasional early or late hours.
• Advanced degree in taxation (MST/LL.M.), law degree, or a comparable technical credential is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience at a family office, multi-family office, wealth management firm, or national accounting firm is highly preferred.
