
Tax Manager – SALT-Income/Franchise

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Oversee and execute multistate income and franchise tax compliance and consulting projects.
• Act as the main liaison for clients on assigned projects, ensuring prompt communication and exceptional service quality.
• Organize the preparation and review processes for state income and franchise tax returns.
• Assist with state tax planning efforts for corporations, partnerships, and individuals.
• Support state tax dispute matters, including audits, notices, and appeals.
• Conduct and evaluate apportionment and revenue sourcing analyses for income and franchise taxes.
• Perform multistate technical tax research to back up filing positions, planning opportunities, and client advisory services.
• Stay informed on state and local tax legislative changes impacting income and franchise tax obligations.
• Draft and review technical memorandums, client communications, and internal guidelines.
• Aid in tax provision and accrual processes related to state income and franchise taxes.
• Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in SALT compliance and consulting activities.
• Assist in the creation and implementation of tools, templates, and technology-driven solutions.
• Support the implementation, optimization, and training of the tax engine as needed.
• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and thought leadership efforts in the area of income and franchise tax.
• Manage, develop, and mentor SALT professionals through coaching, feedback, and growth opportunities.
• Review deliverables and provide constructive feedback to ensure quality and professional development.
• Assist in engagement planning, budget management, and workflow coordination.
• Promote a collaborative, client-centric, and growth-oriented team environment.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Eligible to practice before the IRS (e.g., Licensed Attorney, CPA, or EA).
• At least 5 years of experience in State and Local Tax, with a primary emphasis on income and franchise tax.
• Minimum of 1 year in a managerial position involving client interaction and team management.
• Experience in public accounting, preferably with a Big 4 or national firm.
• Familiarity with Power BI, Alteryx, OneSource, GoSystems, or similar tax technology platforms.
