This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• The Tax Manager (for both indirect and direct tax) is accountable for managing all elements of the Company’s tax operations, which encompass Sales & Use Tax, Personal Property Tax, and Income Tax across various jurisdictions.
• This position provides support to all OnPoint Group companies nationwide and reports directly to the Corporate Controller.
• The Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing compliance, planning, audit management, and system integration for both indirect and direct taxes.
• This role involves collaborating with finance, accounting, payroll, and business unit leaders to offer guidance on tax issues, enhance tax positions, and reduce risk.
• In a private equity-sponsored environment, this position will also facilitate transaction readiness, tax-related due diligence, integration of acquisitions, and improved reporting obligations to executive leadership and investors.
• Lead and mentor the Tax team, ensuring precise and prompt deliverables across all tax areas.
• Develop scalable processes and controls to facilitate growth and acquisition activities.
• Collaborate with executive leadership on tax strategy, reporting, and risk management.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax filings across multiple jurisdictions.
• Review indirect tax accruals, reconciliations, and determinations of taxability.
• Oversee the management of exemption certificates and compliance with nexus regulations.
• Coordinate efforts with financial leadership and teams within business units.
• Handle all aspects of personal property tax compliance, including filings, renditions, and assessments in various jurisdictions.
• Organize the outsourcing, preparation, and review of federal, state, and local income tax filings, collaborating with external advisors as necessary.
• Lead all tax audits (including sales tax, property tax, and income tax) and manage relationships with tax authorities and external advisors.
• Assess and enhance ERP and tax systems to ensure precise reporting and compliance.
• Assist with due diligence and tax structuring for acquisitions and divestitures.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA designation is preferred).
• A minimum of 10 years of tax experience is required.
• A strong background in Sales & Use Tax is essential.
• Familiarity with Personal Property Tax and Income Tax is necessary.
• Experience in a multi-entity, multi-state environment (preferably within private equity or high-growth sectors).
• Proven experience managing external tax advisors and audits.
• Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills are vital.
• The selected candidate must pass a criminal history background check and drug screening.
