This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the main liaison for Hometap with our external tax preparer.

• Ensure all federal and state tax submissions are accurate and complete prior to filing.

• Utilize partnership tax knowledge to evaluate allocations, distributions, and the maintenance of capital accounts across Hometap's entities.

• Oversee income tax accounting for Hometap's two corporate entities under ASC 740, which includes current and deferred tax computations.

• Review and address state tax notifications for all entities.

• Timely initiate estimated tax payments and extensions at both federal and state levels.

• Regularly reconcile tax-related general ledger accounts.

• Proactively communicate with investors regarding the timing and availability of K-1 forms.

• Verify the accuracy of quarterly distribution calculations and the associated tax computations.

• Monitor changes in federal, state, and local tax legislation and evaluate their implications.

• Assist external auditors with tax-related queries during the annual audit process.

• Collaborate with the Controller on special projects and ad hoc analyses.

• Constantly review and enhance tax processes, controls, and documentation.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of tax experience with significant exposure to partnership tax accounting, including the review of Form 1065 and Schedules K-1 for funds, joint ventures, or similar pass-through entities.

• Valid CPA license.

• Strong technical grasp of partnership tax principles, including capital account management, allocations, and tax distributions.

• Experience with ASC 740 income tax accounting for corporate entities, encompassing current and deferred taxes.

• Proven experience managing a third-party tax preparer relationship, critically reviewing deliverables, and ensuring accountability for quality and deadlines.

• Experience in reviewing and responding to state tax notifications across multiple jurisdictions.

• Excellent attention to detail and a self-motivated approach. You identify issues and drive them towards resolution proactively.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex tax issues to investors and non-tax professionals.

• Proficiency with financial software, ERP systems, and the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Familiarity with NetSuite is advantageous.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fully remote and fast-paced environment.

• Experience in a public accounting firm, particularly with fund or partnership clients, is a plus.
