This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Overseeing the daily operations associated with the consolidated tax provision process, investment-related tax issues, and the implementation of tax technicalities.
• Act as a technical advisor in the areas of income tax accounting and emerging tax regulations.
• Collaborate closely with Finance, Treasury, Legal, and external consultants to ensure compliance and accurate financial reporting.
• Manage the consolidation of the annual and income tax provision process under ASC 740, including calculations for current and deferred taxes.
• Prepare and evaluate effective tax rate (ETR) analyses incorporating various management metrics.
• Maintain and reconcile deferred tax assets and liabilities, including conducting the necessary valuation allowance assessments.
• Identify and integrate the impact of intercompany transactions, separate company calculations, and adjustments to consolidated returns on the income tax provision.
• Coordinate with external auditors for tax provision reviews and approvals, responding to their inquiries and requests for information.
• Enhance tax provision models, processes, and internal controls to bolster accuracy and efficiency.
• Draft tax footnotes and disclosures for financial statements in alignment with U.S. GAAP requirements.
• Oversee tax issues related to the company's investment portfolio, which includes equity investments, fixed income, alternatives, and derivatives.
• Act as the primary contact for facilitating information exchange between the tax investment strategy team, financial controllership, and tax operations.
• Collaborate with Treasury and Investment teams regarding the tax reporting consequences of portfolio transactions, restructuring of existing initiatives, and the introduction of new investment vehicles.
• Develop and sustain a practical understanding of third-party investment software, including cultivating effective relationships with vendor representatives.
• Serve as a liaison to the tax strategy team to ensure accurate reflection and application of their analyses, including proposed and enacted tax legislation, regulations, and IRS guidance.
• Implement tax planning strategies, including credits, incentives, and method alterations.
• Manage and address federal and state tax audits, notices, and requests for information documents (IDRs).
• Maintain a tax technical library and ensure that policies and procedures are updated to reflect current laws.
• Assist in the preparation and review of complex federal, state, and local income tax returns, including consolidated filings.
• Work alongside Accounting, Strategic Finance, Legal, and Treasury to provide tax input on business initiatives and financial reporting.
• Support junior tax personnel through reviewing, mentoring, and providing training on tax concepts and processes.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is required.
• 4–7+ years of progressive corporate tax experience in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) and/or industry.
• In-depth knowledge of ASC 740 income tax accounting and tax reporting for financial statements.
• Proven experience in investment tax matters, particularly with alternative investments.
• Strong tax technical research and implementation capabilities, with the ability to analyze and apply the Internal Revenue Code, regulations, and case law.
• Proficiency in tax provision software (e.g., Corptax) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to clearly present complex tax issues to non-tax stakeholders.
• Keen interest in utilizing technology, automation, and AI-enabled tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
