This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +4 more states.
• Assist with go-to-market strategies for new products and initiatives by offering practical global tax guidance on innovative or intricate tax issues.
• Take ownership of U.S. international tax calculations and processes (such as GILTI, FDII, FTC, Pillar 2, BEAT), and review U.S. international tax filings, including FBAR, Forms 8865, 5471, 8858, and 1118, ensuring they are accurate and complete.
• Prepare quarterly and annual international tax provisions while keeping an eye on changes in U.S. and foreign tax laws that may impact the business.
• Conduct thorough tax research, develop well-supported positions, and create documentation for tax reviews and audits.
• Support global transfer pricing efforts, including intercompany agreements, documentation, and adherence to transfer pricing policies.
• Collaborate with strategic finance, accounting, treasury, legal, go-to-market, engineering, product, and operations teams to enhance tax positions throughout the organization.
• Spearhead global tax planning initiatives, including modeling and projections, and assist with multi-jurisdictional local compliance and audits.
• Manage external advisors, oversee deliverables, and maintain budget oversight to ensure cost-efficient and high-quality results.
• Foster innovation and continuous improvement within the tax function.
• A minimum of 8+ years of U.S. international tax and global advisory/compliance experience, preferably within blockchain, crypto, or high-growth sectors.
• In-depth understanding of U.S. international tax regulations and related reporting requirements, with the ability to swiftly interpret new guidance and apply it to unique business models.
• Strong analytical and research skills; capable of formulating well-supported tax positions and documenting them effectively.
• Proven ability to work independently, take responsibility for complex workstreams, and make sound decisions in uncertain situations.
• Excellent communication abilities, with the talent to simplify complex tax concepts for non-tax stakeholders and collaborate across various teams.
• Demonstrated capability to manage multiple projects concurrently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in coordinating external tax advisors, managing deliverables, and overseeing budgets.
• High resilience, adaptability, and resourcefulness; comfortable in startup-like environments requiring process development and continuous improvement.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA is preferred.
