This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead tax strategy and planning across U.S. federal, state, and international jurisdictions, addressing both individual and entity-level issues.
• Provide direct oversight on individual tax matters, including income, capital gains, and cross-border concerns.
• Offer guidance on residency and domicile planning, considering multi-jurisdictional aspects (both U.S. and international).
• Assist in structuring investments, liquidity events, and distributions tax-efficiently across various asset classes.
• Provide tax insights on private equity, venture capital, real estate, and alternative investments at both the investor and entity levels.
• Structure and supervise partnerships, trusts, holding companies, and special purpose vehicles to achieve broader tax goals.
• Assess tax positions to ensure technical defensibility and alignment with long-term strategies.
• Keep abreast of legislative and regulatory changes and proactively adjust planning strategies accordingly.
• Lead the preparation, review, and oversight of intricate federal, state & local, and foreign tax compliance for individuals, trusts, partnerships, LLCs, and related entities.
• Provide counsel on cross-border tax planning for both individuals and entities, ensuring coordination across multiple jurisdictions.
• Support structuring and planning for the U.S. while considering tax-efficient jurisdictions and pertinent international locations.
• Offer guidance on international reporting, foreign tax credits, and multi-jurisdictional compliance issues.
• Collaborate with local advisors to ensure global tax positions are aligned.
• Oversee tax compliance across individual, partnership, and corporate frameworks, including income tax and information reporting.
• Ensure high-quality, audit-ready documentation and robust internal controls throughout all activities.
• Partner with the Accounting team on tax reporting and provision matters when applicable.
• Maintain adherence to relevant regulatory and governance frameworks.
• Act as the primary liaison for external tax advisors, private banking partners, auditors, and legal advisors.
• Provide direction and oversight to ensure alignment with internal strategies and timely execution.
• Evaluate external recommendations and facilitate decision-making amid competing perspectives.
• Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of initiatives.
• Actively manage and negotiate fees with external service providers to guarantee competitive pricing, efficiency, and high-quality services.
• Build and lead a high-performing tax function, including the establishment of processes, systems, and external partnerships.
• Promote cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Legal, Treasury, and other key stakeholders.
• Lead complex, multi-threaded initiatives from planning through execution.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on both individual and entity-level tax issues.
• Support a diverse array of ad hoc tax and financial matters in a dynamic environment.
• Over 12 years of progressive tax experience in a Big Four firm, law firm, private client setting, or similarly complex environment.
• CPA, JD, or Master’s in Taxation (or an equivalent advanced degree).
• Demonstrated experience in advising on individual and entity-level tax planning, including work with private clients or private banking relationships.
• Experience with partnerships, trusts, and investment structures.
• Proficient in cross-border tax planning for both individuals and entities.
• Ability to function both strategically and hands-on across a wide array of tax matters.
• Excellent communication skills, with the capability to articulate complex tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders clearly.
• Proven ability to engage directly with senior stakeholders and operate with a high level of ownership and judgment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of estate, gift, and fiduciary income tax matters.
• Capacity to work independently while juggling multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Demonstrated skill in managing sensitive financial information discreetly and professionally.
• Strong technical knowledge of individual tax law regarding U.S. federal, state, and international tax.
