This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Conduct research, write, edit, and publish authoritative content related to California tax across both digital and print platforms.
• Keep track of legislative, regulatory, and administrative changes to ensure that the content remains timely and technically accurate.
• Simplify complex tax laws into practical and easily understandable guidance for tax professionals.
• Employ AI-assisted research and editorial tools while independently verifying all technical conclusions prior to publication.
• Contribute to shaping CeriFi's editorial strategy and content calendar for California tax products.
• Collaborate with both internal and external subject matter experts to create high-quality educational resources.
• Suggest new topics and educational offerings based on emerging legislation and the needs of practitioners.
• Uphold editorial standards across all publications, ensuring consistency, clarity, and technical excellence.
• Act as a representative of CeriFi and Spidell Publishing with the California Franchise Tax Board and other state tax agencies.
• Develop relationships with government representatives to stay updated on legislative changes and policy developments.
• Function as a reliable technical resource for both internal stakeholders and external industry partners.
• Evaluate content for technical precision, editorial consistency, and adherence to company standards before publication.
• Enhance editorial workflows and utilize technology to boost efficiency while maintaining high-quality standards.
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Journalism, or a related discipline.
• Comprehensive understanding of California and federal tax law.
• Proven experience in researching, writing, or editing complex technical tax content.
• Outstanding writing, editing, and proofreading capabilities.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Capability to assess AI-assisted research while independently confirming technical accuracy.
• Preferred qualifications include CPA, EA, JD, MST, or another advanced tax credential.
• Background in tax publishing, continuing professional education (CPE), or professional education.
• Familiarity with California tax agencies or regulatory bodies is a plus.
• A passion for making highly technical content accessible and practical for professionals.
