This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Prepares estimated year-end income and capital gain distributions.
• Prepares work papers for Subchapter M and excise tax provisions.
• Calculates fund distribution requirements to meet both income and excise obligations.
• Develops tax work papers and distribution analyses for mutual funds.
• Assesses the fund tax status of investments and identifies book and tax discrepancies.
• Analyzes straightforward general ledger accounts to provide roll-forward of tax accounts and to pinpoint income and expense items requiring different tax treatments than book treatments.
• Researches and evaluates federal and state tax laws, regulations, and rulings or decisions from court or other regulatory agencies for presentation to management.
• Collaborates with the financial administration department to create tax and regulatory compliance reporting for regulatory agencies, board of directors, and financial officers.
• Keeps up-to-date with IRS tax law requirements.
• Collects information necessary to respond to inquiries from external audit firms and regulatory bodies.
• Gathers information needed to address IRS and auditor requests related to formal or informal audits.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, tax, accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 2-3 years of experience in taxation and administration of mutual funds.
• Equivalent education and experience will be taken into account.
