This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +4 more states.
• Formulate and uphold system-level requirements for sophisticated space-based sensing systems, guaranteeing traceability from mission goals to subsystem specifications.
• Perform architecture trade studies to assess design options, performance margins, and technical feasibility among competing system concepts.
• Create and evaluate essential systems engineering documents including Concepts of Operations (CONOPs), System Requirements Documents (SRDs), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMPs).
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams such as payload, spacecraft bus, ground systems, and mission operations to ensure comprehensive system coherence and performance closure.
• Assist in design review cycles and provide technical contributions to program milestones and decision gates.
• Conduct RF system performance evaluations, link budget analyses, and system-level sensitivity studies pertinent to space-based sensing frameworks.
• Interact with government clients and mission partners to grasp operational requirements and convert them into actionable system specifications and performance metrics.
• Aid in risk identification, mitigation strategy development, and technical performance measurement (TPM) tracking throughout the program lifecycle.
• Contribute to the creation of program-level technical documentation, white papers, and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.
• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
• Over 5 years of experience in systems engineering within the aerospace, defense, or national security sectors.
• Proven experience in developing and managing system-level requirements using requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama, or similar).
• Background in space-based RF sensing or surveillance system architectures.
• Acquainted with Ground Moving Target Indicator (GMTI) or Airborne Moving Target Indicator (AMTI) signal processing concepts and their impact on system design.
• Experience in RF or sensing system performance analysis, including link budgets, system noise figure, and coverage/revisit assessments.
• Knowledge of systems engineering processes and standards (e.g., NASA/DoD SE frameworks, MIL-STD-499, or equivalent).
• History of supporting formal design reviews and producing related technical documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, capable of generating clear technical documentation and presenting to diverse audiences.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, a U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
