Swing Dispatcher/Router

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Assist the Area Dispatch Supervisor in overseeing the Centralized Dispatch Center/function.

• Ensure checks and balances are in place so all tasks are accounted for and dispatcher shifts are effectively monitored.

• Provide coverage for dispatcher breaks, sick leave, and vacation absences.

• Administer cross-training initiatives and training for new hires.

• Enhance operations and apply best practices.

• Address escalations following established procedures.

• Collaborate with dispatchers and routers to address down-route coverage issues and maximize route efficiency.

• Make certain that all same-day and next-day assignments are distributed to drivers, taking into account load type, customer expectations, landfill requirements, and other relevant factors.

• Engage in skill development with the leadership team through role-playing activities.

• Review processes and procedures with routers and dispatchers.

• Act as the primary contact for ongoing training and mentor new hires during their onboarding process.

• Execute additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must reside within the South Atlantic Market Area: Georgia, South Carolina, or North Carolina.

• High school diploma or a recognized G.E.D.

• A minimum of 2 years of prior dispatching experience.

• Proficient computer skills.

• Excellent communication abilities.

• Additional or specialized training in transportation, logistics, or a related field is preferred.

• Experience in customer service within a call-center environment is preferred.

• Flexibility to work during operational hours from 2:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

• Must possess, or be willing to obtain, a REAL ID or TSA-approved alternative if necessary for air travel or access to federal property.
