SW Test Development Engineer – Level 1

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Engage in enhancing the quality of backend services by designing automated tests, ensuring test coverage, and conducting exploratory testing throughout the development lifecycle.

• Collaborate with engineering teams during requirements and design discussions to promote testability and quality from the outset.

• Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test suites primarily concentrating on backend APIs, cloud services, and distributed systems.

• Create and sustain test plans, test reports, traceability documentation, and other verification/validation artifacts.

• Log, prioritize, and monitor issues in defect-tracking systems with clear reproduction steps and testing evidence.

• Analyze test failures, determine root causes, and collaborate closely with development teams to facilitate resolution.

• Contribute to enhancements in release processes, automation pipelines, and quality engineering practices.

• Offer technical mentorship, guidance, and best practices to junior engineers and colleagues.

• Work collaboratively with developers, DevOps, product teams, and leadership to ensure product quality, performance, reliability, and security.

⛳️ Requirements

• Generally requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical field.

• A minimum of 0–2 years of relevant experience.

• Practical software engineering or test development experience utilizing Python, Java, or another object-oriented language.

• Familiarity with major cloud platforms such as Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure.

• Strong experience with AI-powered development and testing tools.

• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Knowledge of data processing or workflow orchestration tools like CloudRun, Airflow, or Dataflow is advantageous.

• Practical experience with SQL and/or NoSQL data stores.

• Extensive experience in developing automated tests for RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend components.

• Familiarity with test automation frameworks such as pytest, Robot Framework, JUnit, or similar.

• Solid understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and backend service interactions within cloud environments.

• Experience with automated UI testing is beneficial but not essential.

• Knowledge of distributed streaming platforms like Kafka or PubSub is useful.

• Experience with performance or load testing tools is a plus.

• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

• Experience with CI/CD systems and cloud-based deployment pipelines.

• Experience working in Agile software development and testing environments.

• Ability to work collaboratively with developers, DevOps, product teams, and leadership.

• Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
