SVP, Head of Global EHS

šŸ“‹ Description

• Spearhead the ongoing development and implementation of Evotec’s global EHS strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals, people strategy, sustainability objectives, and regulatory requirements.

• Propel the digital transformation of EHS systems, incorporating predictive analytics, real-time monitoring, and global reporting dashboards.

• Enhance a proactive, high-performance EHS culture across all locations and functions.

• Supervise global certification, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other pertinent management systems.

• Ensure worldwide compliance with current and forthcoming regulations, including chemical safety, occupational health, environmental protection, and climate-related disclosure mandates.

• Integrate EHS processes within enterprise systems, governance frameworks, and operational workflows.

• Implement advanced methodologies for risk reduction, such as behavior-based safety and predictive risk modeling.

• Ensure scalable and efficient risk management processes for all of Evotec’s operations.

• Lead investigations using established methodologies and ensure that lessons learned are disseminated and incorporated.

• Own global EHS KPIs, dashboards, and reporting frameworks, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and alignment with both internal and external stakeholders—reporting to executive forums.

• Support enterprise risk management processes and ensure EHS considerations are integrated into strategic decision-making.

• Collaborate with the Sustainability team to enhance ESG reporting and disclosures.

• Represent EHS in customer audits, partnerships, and due diligence activities.

• Cultivate strong relationships with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and external partners.

• Work closely with Operations and Sustainability leaders to ensure that EHS contributes to operational excellence and sustainability goals.

• Serve as the executive EHS representative in global forums and regulatory discussions.

• Support EHS aspects of global crisis management, emergency preparedness, and business continuity frameworks.

• Ensure preparedness for evolving global risks, including climate events, geopolitical disruptions, and public health emergencies.

• Lead and develop a high-performing global EHS organization, promoting capability building, succession planning, and a culture of accountability.

• Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the EHS team and across EHS initiatives.

• Advance the Wellbeing agenda as a fundamental leadership priority throughout the organization.

• Provide coaching, mentorship, and leadership development to EHS professionals at all levels.


ā›³ļø Requirements

• Over 10 years of progressive EHS leadership experience in global, multi-site scientific, pharmaceutical, biotech, or high-tech settings.

• Proven success in leading mature global EHS programs, encompassing digital systems, global governance, and cross-regional teams.

• Extensive knowledge of global EHS regulatory frameworks, including OSHA, EU regulations, chemical safety, among others.

• Experience in EHS digitalization.

• Background in EHS and sustainability integration.

• Demonstrated experience with API containment and industrial hygiene programs.

• Strong comprehension of: OEL/OEB frameworks, exposure modeling, and engineering controls (isolators, containment systems).

• Experience in regulated pharmaceutical/biotech environments involving potent compounds.

• Proven expertise in process safety and engineering risk management within chemical, pharmaceutical, or biotech settings.

• Demonstrated proficiency in biosafety and biological risk management within pharmaceutical or biotech environments, including experience with GMOs, biological containment, and global biosafety regulations.

• Proven expertise in crisis management, emergency response, and business continuity.

• Strong leadership, communication, and influencing abilities, including experience presenting at Executive and Board levels.

• Fluency in English is required; additional languages are advantageous.
